“Sztandar Ludu” (1956-1970) – the Press Organ of the Voivodeship Committee of the Polish United Workersʼ Party in Lublin

The aim of this article is to present the process of political communication in journalistic articles in “Sztandar Ludu” (The People’s Flag) - the official press organ of the Voivodeship Committee of the Polish United Workers’ Party in Lublin. The timeframe for the analysis covered the years 1956-1970. The following research problems had to be considered: 1) What was the journal’s press profile? 2) How were the political events of 1956 presented in the journal? 3) How were the propaganda activities connected with the 1957 elections to the Sejm of the Polish People’s Republic carried out? 4) How were the disputes over the 1966 millennial celebrations presented? 5) How were political communication images created in relation to student strikes in 1968 and shipyard workers’ strikes in the 1970s?Łukasz Jędrzejski, mgr, Uniwersytet Marii Curie-Skłodowskiej w Lublinie.
